Thanksgiving morning started with a 6 mile easy run with some of my favorite Moms Run This Town ladies! This run was the start of my long run for today. Six miles literally flew by with these ladies! I had to leave after six miles in order to get home for the Wiregrass Wobble, but not before sharing mimosas with the ladies out of the back of Sarah’s car in Chili’s parking lot…….because we are classy like that. Carrie even brought some sparkly plastic champagne glasses.
It was the perfect way to start Thanksgiving and since I wasn’t supposed to race the Wobble I figured I could indulge. Mimosas are adequate for mid run fueling, right?
I got home just in time to run to the race. Chris didn’t want to run to the race so he was meeting me there. I wanted to get there in time for the MRTT picture. After the pic I set out to find my other friends-Carrie, Allison and Liana. We grabbed a quick group photo before I met back up with Chris and headed to the start.
My plan for this race was to run easy. I told Chris I would try to run with him, but it’s hard to run with anyone during a race. We got as close to the start as possible, but it was pretty crowded.
The race started promptly at 7:30. It is a pretty crowded race with very small roads, making it difficult to run too fast as you are dodging people like crazy. I pretty much lost Chris with in the first few minutes. I did not race this race, but I did not run easy by any means. I do like this race, but it is not the best course and it is super crowded with over 2000 people. I also dislike the fact that I have to run up and around a parking garage at about mile 2.25. Overall it is a fun local race, but definitely not the best for a PR, unless you can get right at the front at the start.
I finished in 24:16. Not too shabby and definitely not an all out run.
Chris finished in 26:19. A PR for him!!!!
Overall a fun race. We declined grabbing beers afterward and grabbed one last group picture before heading home.
It was a great running morning for me. I actually got faster with each subsequent run and even after imbibing on mimosas….who says you can’t fuel your run with alcohol? I ended up running about 10.5 miles total.
It was definitely a great start to Thanksgiving. I may or may not run the Wiregrass Wobble again, but I will definitely be running with my MRTT ladies and enjoying mimosas on Thanksgiving morning.
Did you run a Turkey Trot this year?

I love that the mimosa helped you to run faster. Maybe I should also consider giving that approach a try… 😉

Mimosas as fuel? I think you’re on to something!

Hey, there’s plenty of carbs in the OJ, right? Probably some pulp for a little extra fiber. All the vitamin C….I think you’ve hit on something here 😉
