This was not the marathon I trained or hoped for, but I did manage a 39 minute PR. Overall I'd say it was a success, but I'd say completing any marathon with any time a success. What I think society as a whole has lost in recent years is the benefit of failure. I believe our lives on a whole are shaped more by our failures that our successes. Without failure we don't learn how to succeed. I trained for a 3:40 marathon and most certainly an under 4 hour marathon, ...

2017 Fit Foodie 5K Clearwater Recap
[Tweet "Check out Toni's @FitFoodieRace Clearwater Recap:"] This 5K was going to be a PR race. I was feeling good and I was going to go for it, all out. Well, Mother Nature and the race course had other plans for me. First off the weather sucked. Temperature was in the 50’s, no sun and windy. I know 50’s is by no means cold by some standards, but this “Floridian” felt cold. It is amazing how your body changes when you move somewhere ...
2017 Wiregrass Wobble 5K Recap
[Tweet "Check out Toni's 2017 Wiregrass Wobble Recap"] Thanksgiving morning started with a 6 mile easy run with some of my favorite Moms Run This Town ladies! This run was the start of my long run for today. Six miles literally flew by with these ladies! I had to leave after six miles in order to get home for the Wiregrass Wobble, but not before sharing mimosas with the ladies out of the back of Sarah’s car in Chili’s parking lot…….because we are classy like that. Carrie ...
2017 Cocoa Beach Half Marathon Recap
[Tweet "Check out Toni's Cocoa Beach Half Marathon Recap"] I had heard that Cocoa Beach was an awesome race to run, plus it was definitely doable for an overnight racecation. I had been trying for years to recruit Chris to run a half and could not believe her agreed to run this one with me, although he claims he was drunk when he agreed. His problem, not mine. My training went pretty well, I followed an Another Mother Runner 15 week plan for most of the training. A month ...
Dusty Rail Rally 5K Recap
[Tweet "Toni scored a shiny new PR at the Dusty Rail Rally 5K"] I walked outside to let Comet out in the am and new immediately it was going to be a rough race. The air had been cooler here in Central Florida all week and then boom, race day humidity struck. The Weather channel app has a run number that ranges from 1-10, 1 being the worst and 10 being the best. Where I am in Florida the run number usually averages a 3. The week prior to the race it was averaging a 7, ...
2017 San Francisco Half Marathon Recap Part One: Expo Day #TSFM2017
[Tweet "Toni's #TSFM2017 Day One Recap: The Expo:"] I want to start off by saying that San Francisco is now my favorite city. I absolutely loved it. I loved the feel, the architecture and just the overall experience that I had there……I would have stayed forever if I could afford it. We drove up from Los Angeles on Friday and decided to take the scenic route, unfortunately half of it was closed due to all the rain, so we had to head to Monterey to catch the Pacific Coast ...
2017 Echo Half Marathon Race Recap
[Tweet "2017 Echo Half Marathon Race Recap"] A few weeks ago I ran the Echo Half Marathon with my friend Allison. I was looking forward to this race for a few reasons: (1) a night away, (2) redemption ( I was supposed to run last year but broke my toe right before), and (3) it was my first half since being injured in February. Considering I was just 8 weeks out from an injury my only goal was to run this race in under 2:15, meaning 2:14:59. I ran the Key West Half in January and ...
The Great Mother’s Day Race 2017 Recap #GMDR
[Tweet "Check out Toni's Recap of The Great Mother's Day Race Sarasota 2017"] My friend Carrie was looking to run a 5K and during her research she found this race. She asked if I was interested and of course I was, what an awesome way to celebrate Mother’s Day. She invited some of our other runner friends, but they couldn’t make it. The race was on Saturday the day before Mother’s Day in Siesta Key on the beach. FYI Siesta Key was rated the #1 beach in the United ...
2017 Tampa International Airport 5K Recap #TPA5k
[Tweet "Check ut Toni's #TPA5K Recap:"] I love this race. There is something about running on the tarmac at the airport that just makes it so appealing. It is something different and for obvious reasons, somewhere you would not normally run. The course is out and back and fast and flat. Perfect for a PR. My normal goals for a 5K are to finish under 30 minutes and to beat my husband, if he is running it too. Since I was coming back from an injury I ...
2016 Wiregrass Wobble 5K Recap
[Tweet "Better late than never, check out Toni's #WiregrassWobble Recap"] This year I believe we have started a new Thanksgiving tradition……the Wiregrass Wobble Turkey Trot. This is a local 5K that takes place less than 5 minutes from my house and donates their profits to a few good causes including, the Florida Hospital Foundation, Feeding America Tampa Bay, FITniche Charities, and the Rotary Club of New Tampa charities. I love local races and I especially love local races that ...
New York City Marathon Weekend Day 3 #TCSNYCMarathon
[Tweet "Check out Toni's #TCSNYCMarathon Recap:"] Marathon day started with a 5 am wake up call, not that I got much sleep the night before anyway. I pretty much popped up at 5am, got dressed, ate and packed my second breakfast in my “official” clear plastic bag. I checked the weather only to see it was in the 50’s already, which was good for waiting, but not so good for the marathon or at least I thought at the time. I had scheduled an Uber to pick me up at 5:45 to take me to ...
Fit Foodie 15K Recap #FitFoodieRace
Disclosure: As a Fit Foodie Ambassador I was able to attend all events associated with the race with a friend at no cost for my honest opinion of this event. [Tweet "Check out Toni's Tampa #FitFoodieRace Recap:"] This recap is a few weeks coming. I honestly forgot to write it. Day 1 is up and ready to be viewed, check it out here. I definitely partied with a purpose, unfortunately that purpose was not to run a 15K the next day. I aim to be pretty honest on ...
