Week 9 of training was pretty uneventful due to me having hip pain after my long run week 8. We also had some stormy weather due to Hermine which actually forced me to rest anyway. I am happy to report that week 10 was pretty great!!!! I ran without pain and completed a 16 miler too. I think there is something about 16 miles that makes me actually believe I will run a marathon in November. I am super excited to announce that I am a TCS New York City Marathon Social Media ...

2016 NYC Marathon Training Recap Week 8
Last week didn’t start out the best. I felt like I was fighting off a cold the whole first half of the week. My throat was sore and I was achy. Thankfully it never developed into a full blown illness. By the end of the week I felt awesome and my 14 miler was a piece of cake!!! Despite some setbacks and bad runs, the 14 miler made me feel confident in my training and that I will actually finish the NYC Marathon this year!! Monday 8/15/16: Rest Day. Tuesday ...
2016 NYC Marathon Training Recap Week 7
[Tweet "Another week in the books! Check out Toni's NYC Marathon Week 7 recap"] Another week in the books. This week started off on a pretty bad note. I have a chronic back issue that I have dealt with for over 20 years. I regularly, and I mean regularly when I have pain, see a chiropractor. I should be more proactive but when I feel good life just gets in the way of my chiropractic visits. This week I need my chiropractor and I saw him Monday through Wednesday. I ...
2016 NYC Marathon Training Recap Week 3
This week I finally felt in my groove. I am finally feeling like my training is coming together and starting to pay off. I am happy for week 3 because after this week there is 16 weeks left until the marathon. I still have my good runs and bad runs, but overall each and every run has made me stronger. My biggest issue during this training has been my sneakers. I have narrowed it down to two pairs-ASICS Metarun and ASICS GT-2000. Since I cannot get another ...
And so it begins…….2016 NYC Marathon training
[Tweet "Are you training for a Fall marathon? @tonee78 is: "] When I couldn’t run the NYC Marathon last year with Team ASICS due to an injury I knew that I had to run this year no matter what. Last year we were supposed to be FIVE TO THE FINISH and only four made it, so I need redemption, despite the fact I am once again going to train through the summer in the Florida heat. I am once again working with Jess from Race Pace Jess as my running coach. She has been amazing over the ...
A Training Update plus the #FiveToTheFinishLine Webisode 5 #TeamASICSNYCM
So I have been quiet this week about my training and mostly it is because there is none happening right now. Sadly I injured my leg during my long run 3 weeks ago and have been unable to run since. While I am 95% better than I was when it happened I am still having some pain. Where does that leave me?? It leaves me unsure if I will be able to run or run/walk the marathon next week. I keep hoping I will wake up pain free and perfect, but each day that passes that I ...
Weekly Workout Wrap Up, NYC Marathon Training, Weeks 12-13 #TEAMASICSNYCM
This recap is a hard one, mostly because there wasn’t much running happening these last two weeks. During my week 11 long run I tweaked something in my right leg. I ended up not running until the following Sunday where I ended up doing a four hour, 17 mile run/walk. Unfortunately, the last two miles of this run were walking because I was in pain. We had decided to do some trails and I think the unevenness of the ground irritated the strain in my leg. By the ...
2014 NYC Marathon Recap #TCSNYCMarathon
It has been a little over two weeks since the marathon and I am struggling to put my experience into words. This experience was truly amazing from start to finish. From the runners to the crowds to the views. It was amazing. Here is my recap: The journey begins with a bus ride to Staten Island: This is it!!! I made it!!! The start of the marathon! Cold, super windy and amazing! The Verrazano Bridge was rough. I couldn’t run in a straight line because the wind was literally ...
